Because of the looming threat of Hurricane Rita, ESPN’s “College GameDay” and ESPN2’s “Cold Pizza” have cancelled their appearances this Friday on LSU’s campus.
“We are very disappointed about not coming to Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium this weekend,” said GameDay producer Michael Fountain in a news release. “With the uncertainty of the weather, we just couldn’t take a chance of not being able to have a show.”
Instead “College GameDay” will visit Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech game.
“College GameDay,” featuring hosts Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit is in its 12th consecutive season of on-site appearances.
“Gameday” was on LSU’s campus last season, before LSU’s 22-21 victory over Oregon State. The crew has also been on campus in 1996, 1997 and 2003. LSU has a 3-1 record when “Gameday” is on campus.
Fountain did not rule out the show coming back for an LSU game later this season.
“We’ve looked at the LSU schedule and we are exploring the possibility of coming back to Baton Rouge on Oct. 15 for the Florida game.”
“Cold Pizza,” featuring columnists Woody Paige and Skip Bayless, originally planned on featuring its show on the Parade Ground.
“In anticipation of inclement weather in the Gulf region due to Hurricane Rita, ESPN2’s “Cold Pizza” has cancelled this planned appearance live telecast on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge on Friday, Sept. 22,” “Cold Pizza” Coordinating Producer Alvin Patrick said.
“We hope to visit LSU in the near future.”
Through three weeks of the college football season, “Cold Pizza” has already visited Ohio State, Boston College and Pittsburg.
