Women’s Center offers open house to University community
The Women’s Center hopes to kick off Women’s History Month Thursday by inviting everyone in the University community to an open house.
“We want to celebrate Women’s History Month, and we are still trying to make ourself more visible on campus,” said staff member Andrea Conque, a graduate student in philosophy.
The center will serve refreshments between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Helen M. Carter Women’s Center House located on Raphael Semmes Drive next to the African-American Cultural Center.
“It’s really going to be an informal gathering,” Conque said.
During the open house, the Women’s Center will distribute its first newsletter and informally discuss women’s history.
The Women’s Center also will give visitors information on the upcoming events related to Women’s History Month.
The first of these events is a visit from Sen. Mary Landrieu held Monday between 11 a.m. and noon in the Union Cotillion Ballroom.
