In an attempt to give women knowledge concerning safety, the LSU Health and Wellness Center will sponsor and conduct rape aggression defense classes, called RAD.
The classes, held in Pleasant Hall Room 48C, cost $25 for students and $45 for the general public.
Focusing primarily on LSU and Southern University’s students, faculty and staff, the classes began yesterday and will continue throughout the week, culminating in actual attack scenarios.
“We are trying to empower women to take some ownership in their own self-defense,” said Julie Hupperich, the Assistant Director of the Student Health Center. “By taking classes like this, women can feel more in control of their bodies.”
Contact the Student Health Center at 578-5718 for more information concerning rape or self-defense.
