CENTER FOR FRANCOPHONE STUDIES – A colloquium on Victor Hugo will be held in the Lecture Hall at Hill Memorial Library. Morning session will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the afternoon session 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The panel will feature renowned Hugo scholars Daniele Gasiglia-Laster, Arnaud Laster and Steve Murphy.
ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTING MACHINERY – LSU ACM with Baton Rouge Linux User Group will present a Linux demonstration that will cover introduction to Linux and introduction to Shell Scripting. Free drinks and pizzas will be provided. All minors are welcomed. Join us in Room 214 Coates from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

BATON ROUGE VIDEO PROJECT – LSU School of Art presents a lecture by Christiane Paul, curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art, titled “Media Aesthetics: Notes on Representation and Simulation, Time and Space.” The presentation will reconsider theories with regard to digital media practice and the perception of digital artwork. Join us in Room 103 Design Building Auditorium at 5 p.m.
MSPPS — Dr. Edward Helm, associate dean of the Office of Community and Minority Health Education at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and current medical students will be talking about their school in general and answering questions. Join us in the Castillian Room of the Union at 5 p.m.

SWEET NOVEMBER GALA — Are you ready for the most elegant night in autumn? It’s time again for BSU’s formal ball to be held Nov. 26 at the Lod Cook Alumni Center from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Invitations will be available in the AACC and Office of Multicultural Affairs.
SCHOLARSHIP — Applications are available for the Tom Cruse Memorial Scholarship for full-time students who are in at least their third year of college. Applications are available in the College of Basic Sciences, Engineering, Design and the Math Department for students enrolled in these majors.
Applications are also available in Student Aid in Room 208 Coates Hall. The application deadline is Jan. 31.
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE — Nominations for the George H. Deer Distinguished Teaching Award, Alumni Association Teaching Assistant Award and Advisor of the Year Award now are being accepted.
