The Student Senate adjourned their fastest session this year at around 8 p.m. Wednesday with the announcement of the winners of the three vacant UCFY senate seats.
Voters elected Rachel Buller, Garrett Chassee and Adam Johnson to fill the remaining positions in Wednesday’s runoff election. All senators elected this month will be sworn in Nov. 20.
In unfinished business, SG President Darrell Broussard vetoed SGB 10, a bill which gave money to the Block and Bridle Club for its annual fund-raising rodeo.
The veto was upheld by the Senate after Broussard explained the Senate could not give money to a student organization to support a fund-raiser.
“It would be like if I got money from [Senate] for a lemonade stand, and then kept all the profits for myself,” Broussard explained. “That really isn’t fair.”
Broussard also presented the Senate with a new prospective appointment for executive secretary. The bill would officially enact sophomore Lauren Hayter in the position of executive secretary.
The bill will go to committee and be brought up for debate next week.
