Despite having a bye week, LSU moved up three spots in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings to the No. 4 position.
Oklahoma and USC remained in the top two spots, followed by Ohio State, which moved up to third. The Buckeyes kept their position ahead of LSU despite a lower ranking in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
The Tigers benefited from the losses of Florida State, Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech, all previously ranked above them at third, fourth and fifth, respectively. FSU fell to No. 13, Miami (Fla.) to No. 12 and Virginia Tech to No. 15.
Two new teams entered the Top 10 for the first time this year in Texas (No. 5) and Tennessee (No. 7). Washington State (No. 10) moved back into the Top 10 after falling to No. 15 last week because of its loss against USC.
Michigan holds steady at No. 8 and Georgia moves up one to No. 9, both after bye weeks as well. TCU, a non-BCS school, secured a No. 6 spot after its win over Louisville last week.
If the Horned Frogs can end the season with a ranking of sixth or better, they would become the first team from a non-BCS conference to make it to a BCS bowl.
