An unidentified man ran a stop sign and crashed his vehicle into a guardrail near Frey Computing Services Center Thursday, temporarily disrupting traffic.
LSUPD Maj. Ricky Adams said the wreck occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of South Stadium Road and Tower Drive.
Adams said witnesses reported seeing the man collapse behind the wheel before his car rolled over the rail and into a small tree.
“This leads us to believe it was a medical condition,” Adams said.
An ambulance took the man to Baton Rouge General Hospital.
No one else was in the vehicle or reported injured.
Katie Denton, a nutrition junior, witnessed the car accident. She said she attempted to revive the driver after he crashed.
“Another girl and I tried to give him CPR,” Denton said. “He took one breath, then stopped.”
The driver’s condition was unknown before press time Thursday.
