The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department arrested Ben Daranda,the suspicious man posing as a photographer on campus, Oct. 5 athis mother’s residence in Marksville, La.
LSUPD Maj. Ricky Adams said the sheriff’s department arrestedDaranda at 11:45 a.m.
Daranda allegedly has been approaching women on campusvolunteering to take their pictures, then trying to get them toaccompany him to a private location, Adams said.
He also said Daranda is not allowed on the University’s campusbecause of a 1992 incident in which Daranda allegedly lured a womaninto a building and fondled her.
LSUPD searched Daranda’s West Chimes St. apartment Monday andobtained a digital camera and a computer police believe to beconnected to the complaints.
As of Oct. 6, Adams said LSUPD were en route to transportDaranda back to Baton Rouge.
