The volleyball team will look for redemption this weekend whenit hosts the University of Auburn and the University ofAlabama.
The Tigers are coming off a disappointing defeat against theUniversity of Arkansas on Tuesday night. LSU was swept in threegames.
LSU has faced the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers earlierthis season on the road. Alabama defeated LSU in three games, butthe Tigers beat Auburn when they met at the beginning of themonth.
Since the meeting with both opponents, LSU has won only onematch against the University of Kentucky and dropped threeSoutheastern Conference matches.
But the team has stayed optimistic with the upcomingmatches.
“We know what we are capable of,” said senioroutside hitter/middle blocker Regan Hood. “We just have toput it all together to make ourselves successful.”
Team members said they agree they are lacking certain qualitiesthe team needs to reach their full potential.
“We are not communicating on the court like we needto,” said sophomore outside hitter Kassi Mikulik. “Weneed to get our confidence level back. We have to get back into thegym and just practice hard.”
The Lady Tigers took Wednesday off and got back to practiceThursday. The preparation for this weekend will take a lot ofmental focus along with physical ability and execution.
“We are going to do everything we have to inpractice,” said sophomore middle blocker/outside hitterMelody Clark. “We are doing things that we can fix. Ourerrors are our problems.”
The Tigers will attempt to improve their 3-7 SEC record whenthey take on the University of Auburn Friday night at 7 p.m. in thePete Maravich Assembly Center. LSU will finish up the weekendSunday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Sunday’s match isset for 2 p.m.
This weekend’s matches will be the last home SEC games.The Tigers will be on the road for the next four matches beforecompeting in the SEC Tournament.
