It’s no shock that Baton Rouge is home to many bars throughout the city.
With one of Louisiana’s biggest party schools located in the Red Stick, there is a different bar to try each weekend. From college bars to exclusive, downtown bars, here’s our favorites from the Baton Rouge bar scene:

Fred’s Bar and Grill
Fred’s in Tigerland, located at 1184 Bob Pettit Blvd., has been the hotspot for live music and DJs since 1982. With its massive outdoor patio, the original indoor bar and its newest addition, the Antler Room, there’s always somewhere to be or someone to see.
The bar is known for being loved by upperclassmen, which gives older students a separation from younger Tigerland visitors. Since the bar is aimed towards LSU students the deals are endless, with an open bar occurring often.
Besides having great deals almost every weekend, the events are what make the place so special. From huge names like DJ Diesel, Travis Scott and Steve Aoki to local college bands and Djs like Foam Finger band and DJ Rough, Fred’s always makes sure to have its weekend lineup filled with entertainment.

13 Social
If you’re like me and prefer a more laid back, mature vibe when it comes to bars, 13 Social in downtown Baton Rouge is perfect for you. This bar offers classic dive-bar ambiance and weekly specials, with one of them being for LSU students. If you attend or have graduated from LSU in the last two years, you can get martinis for $5 on Tuesday nights.
There is also no cover charge, including on the weekends. The dim lighting, friendly staff, no song request policy and affordability have made this place my go-to.
This bar also hosts themed events throughout the year, with the most recent being its House of Halloween lineup of spooky events and Halloween-themed cocktails offered throughout the month of October. 13 Social is definitely a hidden gem and a nice change of pace in the Baton Rouge bar scene.

The Revelry
The Revelry, more widely known as the Rev, is hands down my favorite bar. I like being able to go out with my friends without feeling like I am running at a million miles an hour, which is the usual feeling that I get at any of the Tigerland bars. It has variety and familiar faces.
I can still have a fun time when it’s not that busy. The Rev is the perfect spot to watch an away football game or just spend some time out of the house.
The Rev also hosts themed events like its Taylor Swift night that drops the age to come in to 18, so that everyone can join in on the fun. My personal favorite night is Tuesday, because the bar hosts karaoke every week. Anyone can queue their favorite song to sing with a 24oz Twisted Tea in hand.

Brickyard South
Brickyard South, located on South Blvd., is Baton Rouge’s No. 1 dive bar for a reason. The bar has unbeatable drink prices and a homey patio. Its location underneath the overpass only adds to its mystery, blending city life with the bar’s rustic atmosphere.
This eclectic bar and grill also hosts a variety of events and local musicians for unique performances. From karaoke to micro raves, Brickyard can do it all. The bar have an extensive drink menu with a wide selection of beer and cocktails. They also serve up a great burger and fries for those who come hungry.
This funky joint attracts a variety of ages from college students to millennials and beyond. The staff and customers are always friendly, and it’s a great place to mingle with new people.
