LSU Men’s Basketball Coach Matt McMahon spoke with the media after his team’s 80-72 loss against Vanderbilt Saturday Night.
LSU struggled with turnovers throughout the game, with 15 on the night, as Vanderbilt suffocated LSU’s offense for a majority of the game.
“Clearly their pressure really bothered us,” Coach McMahon said. “Especially in that first half.”
The Tigers struggled on the glass as well, losing the rebound battle by ten and being out offensive rebounded 17-5, an area LSU has succeeded in early in the season.
McMahon said of the offensive rebounding, “I think a lot of it was we just didn’t have a lot of opportunity.”
Vanderbilt attempted 16 more shots than the Tigers, and while LSU shot better from the field and from the free throw line, it wasn’t enough to take down a physical, tough Vanderbilt team.
The Tigers (11-3, 0-1 SEC) have four of their next five games on the road, starting with a trip to Columbia, Missouri in a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday.
