LSU gymnastics‘ Kailin Chio and Ashley Cowan earned SEC awards after week two. Chio has consecutive SEC awards, and Cowan lands her first award.

Chio, a former five-star recruit, is the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week with Lily Pedersom from Oklahoma following her career-high 39.625 score that also placed her tied for second in the event all-around title. This is her second time receiving this award this season. Chio is ranked No. 5 in all-around gymnasts and top 20 in every individual event following two weeks of competitions.

Cowan, an established junior on the team, grabbed the first conference award of her career when she was named the SEC Co-Specialist of the Week this week. Her 9.950 gives her the shared honor on bars with Danie Ferris from Florida. Cowan is ranked 10th on bars nationally with her 9.900 average.

This duo helped LSU gymnastics finish second with a score of 197.650 in the second-annual Sprouts Collegiate Quad meet in Oklahoma City on Saturday.
