LSU Gymnastics Head Coach Jay Clark spoke with the media Tuesday prior to their match against Florida. The match will take place in the PMAC on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. The last time the tigers and gators met was at the 2024 National Championship, so this match has the potential to be very competitive.
Clark stressed that the tigers need to improve their landings. He noted that throughout the few matches they have had so far he has seen improvement, but there is still room to grow.
“I’m not going to overtrain something and fix it overnight. It’s a marathon,” Clark said.
Clark also touched on the teams’ overall confidence, even during times where they were not performing their best. He said leading up to their last meet practice was not good, and he was worried. He decided to hold his tongue because of the consistency he has seen from them during competitions.
“They have shown me a pattern of being very confident and disciplined in their mind,” Clark said.
Clark briefly touched on Hailey Bryant’s recovery and performance in her first meet back. Clark said it was possible, emphasis on the if, that she could compete in two events. He also said that he did not talk to Bryant about her performance because he is proud of her.
“I’m not going to knee-jerk react to someone having a minor mistake,” Clark said.
He knows Bryant’s ability, and that one day she will get back to all four events.
