The NFL will have many décor elements spread throughout New Orleans to celebrate Super Bowl LIX and local culture. The fans gathering in the Crescent City will be able to immerse themselves in the Super Bowl in the days leading up to the game, which is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 9.
The NFL has five key elements and other murals, to be completed by local artists, planned for fans before the big game. The major elements include the Caesars Superdome light show, St. Louis Cathedral projection show at Jackson Square, photo opportunities at Jackson Square and Caesars New Orleans, Queen Tahj’s larger-than-life Super Bowl LIX display and the opening night interview podiums.
These elements are meant to connect New Orleans’ unique culture and the Super Bowl.
“We’re thrilled to bring Super Bowl LIX to life through the culture, creativity and community that make New Orleans one of a kind, as every design choice, installation and moment fans experience across the city is a tribute to its energy and spirit,” said Marissa Solis, NFL senior vice president of global brand and consumer marketing.
Caesars Superdome light show
The Caesars Superdome light show will run nightly from dusk till dawn, starting on Feb. 1 and lasting through Feb. 9. The first-of-its-kind show will feature 360-degree lighting that will light up the sky around the Superdome.
Additionally, the Crescent City Connection lights will be colored in celebration of Super Bowl events throughout the week.
St. Louis Cathedral projection show
The St. Louis Cathedral projections will kick off in Jackson Square beginning Sunday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. This will include the colors of this year’s Super Bowl logo — orange, red and yellow — projected onto the Cathedral, the Cabildo and the Presbytère. The projection will also include unique designs from local artists, such as Becky Fos, James Michalopoulos and Terrance Osborne.
Along with the beautiful projections, a soundtrack of jazz, blues and rock and roll set to capture the sounds of the city. The shows will occur nightly every 30 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m.
“This breathtaking illumination will celebrate our city’s rich beauty and history while drawing attention to the Our City, Our Cathedral campaign, a crucial initiative to safeguard the essence of New Orleans for future generations,” New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson said. “Together, we can celebrate our heritage and inspire a brighter future.”
Photo opportunities at Jackson Square and Caesars New Orleans
To compliment the projections at Jackson Square, there will be a Super Bowl-themed display modeled after New Orleans’s iconic row house porches.
Additionally, there will be an 8-foot-tall, 12-foot-wide Super Bowl LIX display outside of the recently transformed Caesars New Orleans, starting Jan. 30.
Queen Tahj’s larger-than-life Super Bowl LIX display
On the stadium-facing exterior of NFL Headquarters hotel, the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, a 50 foot by 200 foot Vince Lombardi Trophy building wrap by New Orleans artist Tahj ‘Queen Tahj’ Williams will be displayed. Her theme art will also be featured on digital game tickets and the official program cover. This makes Queen Tahj the first ever to handcraft both the logo and theme art for a Super Bowl.
Opening night interviews
Super Bowl Opening Night is the ultimate New Orleans-style kickoff to the Super Bowl, bringing fans together for a look at the iconic Super Bowl imagery and host stadium ahead of the game. At Opening Night, which is Monday, Feb. 3, Super Bowl players will take center stage at interview podiums that represent New Orleans’ famed and colorful row house porches.
Murals across the Crescent City
There will be more than a dozen large murals painted at key locations across the central business district and downtown. The murals aim to capture motifs that reflect New Orleans’ culture and spirit.
The Big Game in New Orleans
Super Bowl LIX will take place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Feb. 9, 2025. This will be the seventh time the Superdome has hosted the Super Bowl, which is more than any other stadium. This will be the Superdome’s third Super Bowl since 2000.
