The roads in Baton Rouge were busy Monday evening as residents and students prepared for the historic winter weather event.
With the amount of snow, many spent most of their time in the grocery store getting the essentials they need due to road closures.
Bread, milk, eggs, canned foods, and toilet paper is where you could find crowded isles and empty shelves.
Although some were preparing to stay inside for the next two days until the roads opened back up, LSU students were gathering the supplies they needed for fun activities and parties to celebrate the snow.
Two LSU students from Slidell stated they weren’t worried too bad about the snow and plan to spend most of their time today outside since it’s a rare occasion for the state of Louisiana. They spent their time in Walmart getting winter clothing like gloves and hats.
“I’d say we’re probably more worried about hurricanes obviously, but this is still alarming because we don’t usually have heavy outdoor wear lying around and it’s wiped out in Walmart,” LSU student Abby said.
