With 28 new players to the LSU Baseball team, the 12 returners had some challenges to deal with, but overcame adversity and helped the new teammates adjust to the team.
“Props to Jared [Jones] and guys like that, that have really stepped up on this team,” Left-Handed Pitcher Kade Anderson said.
Anderson has been with the Tigers since last season, 2025 being his second season, and showed true potential on the mound as a nine time starter last season. Although it is a dream of his to start on Friday nights, he understands he has to take it one game at a time.
“You’ve got to win every game, if I’ve got to close out the Tuesday night game, I’ll be that,” Anderson said.
Jared Jones, who is going into his third semester with the Tigers, took a hard hit after being one of the most reliable batters on the team, and still coming up short in the playoffs.
“The way things ended last year definitely left a sour taste in my mouth,” Jones said.
Although last season did not go his way, and how the team anticipated it going, Jones has high hopes for this new team.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever had a more successful fall since I’ve been here at LSU,” Jones said.
One thing highly talked about is Michael Braswell III and how he may be moving from shortstop to now playing a position he has played a couple of times but not at LSU, third base.
“Whether it’s at short or third, I honestly don’t really care,” Braswell said.
But just like Jones, Braswell feels the same about the new freshmen class, and honestly feels they could win a national championship.
Gavin Guidry lost a lot of some of his really close friends and teammates to the 2024 MLB Draft, and many were expecting him to go into the draft, but he chose last minute to stay with LSU and tough it out another season.
“There never really was an option of going anywhere,” Guidry said.
There was even talk about him going into the transfer portal, but he feels sticking it out in the long run is what will help him in professional baseball.
