LSU Women’s Basketball played Oklahoma on Thursday night in the PMAC with hopes to close out the month of January with a win and they did just that. LSU defeated Oklahoma 107-100 with the help of Sophomore Guard Mikaylah Williams scoring 37 points.
LSU was slow to begin the first quarter as Oklahoma had a lead against the Tigers; however, it wasn’t until the ejection of LSU Forward Sa’Myah Smith and Oklahoma Forward Liz Scott that made LSU hit the floor running.
By the end of the 1st half, the Tigers were leading by ten points against the Sooners thanks to the help of Williams and LSU Guard Flau’Jae Johnson.
The second half would then be underway as LSU had momentum which made them take a bigger lead leading into the third quarter. However, the Sooners weren’t willing to give up, managing to get close enough to be a one possession game towards the final two minutes of the game.
With the help of Johnson’s layup in the final seconds, LSU was able to beat Oklahoma and seal the win.
