As the Trump Administration’s executive orders continue to dominate headlines, many students are concerned that the lack of clarity surrounding his decision to pause federal grants and loans only fuels uncertainties about the remainder of his term.
Frustrations grew after White House officials initially announced the pause without providing further details on who would be affected, sparking anxiety amongst students.
“Honestly, I probably wouldn’t even know how to continue on with school, the fact that – that could’ve easily been taken away, and the fact that I probably would just be out of school by the end of the week is just something that is not a good feeling,” LSU Student Andrew Lathem said.
Students like Latham are only one of many who rely heavily on loans, even as an in-state student.
In a press release, the White House noted exemptions like student loans, but some worry it’s only a matter of time before that changes.
Currently, the executive order has been paused by a federal judge until the matter can be heard.
