Viral app TikTok returns to app stores after nearly a month-long ban.
This return comes after companies were assured they would not be fined for hosting the app.
The app’s China-based parent company, ByteDance, was required to sell to U.S.-based companies before Jan. 19 for U.S. consumers to continue using the app.
TikTok was banned by the U.S. government on Jan. 18 due to security concerns.
President Donald Trump attempted to prevent Apple and Google from enforcing the ban, but companies were reluctant to reinstate the app over financial repercussions.
The ban prevented U.S. users from downloading TikTok from app stores. However, those who already had the app installed maintained access.
