During LSU Football’s home opener against Nicholls State last Saturday night, fans were able to witness firsthand the latest state-of-the-art renovations to Tiger Stadium.
The Tiger Athletic Foundation spent approximately $19.8 million this offseason to improve the fan experience at Death Valley. From installing new lighting systems to one of the biggest videoboards in college football, LSU’s already highly praised game atmosphere has improved even further.
After the end of the third quarter, for the first time this season, Garth Brook’s beloved song “Callin’ Baton Rouge” echoed throughout the stadium. While fans joined in and passionately sang the lyrics, the in-game light show was put on display as well. This performance received an overwhelmingly positive ovation from the crowd.
Coming in at 152 feet wide, the newly installed north end zone video board covers more than twice the surface area of the previous jumbotron. It not only boasts a wider picture but also displays much crisper, full-screen graphics for fans’ viewing pleasure.
It’s safe to say that Tiger Stadium is only glowing up while getting older in age.
Tiger Stadium’s official 100th anniversary and centennial celebration will take place on Oct. 12, when ranked No. 5 Ole Miss comes to town.
