The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students is hosting this free event in honor of Black History Month. The event focuses on affirming education as a fundamental civil right and will feature many thought-provoking discussions, insightful speakers and interactive sessions. Old school country singer Josh Meloy is playing the Texas Club on Thursday night. Krewe of Southdowns Parade | Glasgow Ave.
The Southdowns Parade, Baton Rouge’s first-ever night parade, is back for its 38th year. This year’s theme is the Southdowns Safari. The family-friendly parade rolls at 7 p.m., rain or shine, down Glasgow Avenue. The parade will end on Cloverdale Avenue near the Acadian-Perkins Shopping Center.

Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival | North Boulevard Town Square
The Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival is returning for its 12th year in a row and is free to the public. Enjoy live performances featuring a variety of genres, including Last Time Down at 2:20 p.m. and Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor at 5:15 p.m. The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lawn chairs are encouraged.
Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade | Rhorer Plaza City Hall Plaza
The Spanish Town Parade is bringing its signature flair back to Baton Rouge for its 44th year. The well-loved parade is known for its iconic pink flamingo mascot and its flamboyant floats. It rolls at 12 p.m. beginning at Spanish Town Road. The full parade route can be found here.

225Fest | BREC State Fairgrounds
225Fest is back on March 1 and 2 for its third year celebrating Baton Rouge’s vibrant culture. The highly anticipated event features food trucks, craft vendors, local artists and more. Sunday’s live performance lineup includes DJ KICKS and Vince Hutchinson & Friends. The event takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
