The Mardi Gras season is kicking off this weekend with several major parades across Louisiana.
Spanish Town Parade: Saturday at 12 p.m. in Baton Rouge
Krewe of Endymion: Saturday at 4 p.m. in Mid-City New Orleans
Krewe of Thoth: Sunday at 12 p.m. Uptown New Orleans
Krewe of Bacchus: Sunday at 5:15 p.m. in Uptown New Orleans
As students make last-minute preparations for the festivities, many have yet to finalize their Mardi Gras outfits. The president of the Fashion Association at LSU, Lawson, has shared some do’s and don’ts of Mardi Gras fashion to help students get ready.
Do’s:
– Step outside your comfort zone with bold looks and accessories.
– Take advantage of textures, layering, and adding color to your wardrobe.
Don’ts:
– Avoid wearing basic outfits, such as the typical Mardi Gras long sleeve shirt and overalls.
– Don’t wear something uncomfortable that can’t take you from day to night.
In this week’s segment, Lawson styled three outfits from her own closet to give students some inspiration for their Mardi Gras looks.
