LSU baseball’s Casan Evans was named SEC Freshman of the Week after shutout performances against Dallas Baptist and Kansas State.
Evans is a freshman pitcher for the Tigers and he recorded four total innings between the two games. He only allowed three hits, one walk and no runs. He also struck out five batters.
Against Dallas Baptist, Evans recorded a save through two innings of work with two strikeouts in the five batters he faced on Wednesday.
Evans recorded a win versus Kansas State where he gave up one walk and three hits but struck out three batters out of the nine he faced Friday.
Evans has a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 record through four performances throughout his freshman campaign.
Evans is part of an impactful freshman class for Jay Johnson and the Tigers.
The Tigers were named No. 1 in the D1 Baseball Top 25 rankings that were released on Monday. They return home to face North Dakota State on Tuesday and Wednesday and North Alabama for the weekend series.
