For many incoming college students, sex education has often been a taboo subject, with abstinence typically presented as the best option – but one feminist organization on campus is working to break that stigma.
According to the guttmacher institute, sex education requirements in the U.S. may vary. While 36 states, including D.C., mandate sex ed in schools, only 26 require the information to be medically accurate.
Recognizing these gaps, Feminists in Action’s sexual health and education committee hosted “What You (Probably) Didn’t Learn in Sex Ed.” – an event aimed at providing detailed, inclusive, and medically accurate information to fill the void of previous curriculums.
