LSU gymnastics’ Kailin Chio claimed her ninth career and seventh consecutive SEC Freshman of the Week award in the Tigers’ final regular season meet.
Chio is now the record holder for most SEC Freshman of the Week awards, overtaking Florida’s Kayla DiCello, who set the record with eight honors in 2023.
Chio also recorded her first collegiate perfect 10, which came on vault.
Chio’s 10 on vault, 9.900 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 9.925 on floor gave her an all-around score of 39.650 in Friday’s meet.
Chio ranks first on vault with an NQS of 9.955, sixth on beam, 18th on bars and 16th on floor heading into the postseason. Her 39.670 NQS in all-around is the fifth-best in the country.
LSU is the No. 2 seed in the SEC championship meet in Birmingham, Ala., this Saturday and will compete in the evening block against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 3 Florida and No. 7 Missouri.
