LSU Men’s Basketball defeated the Alcorn State Braves 107 to 81 on Tuesday night inside the PMAC. It was not an easy win for LSU as the Braves trailed by only six going into the second half.
A big second half from the Tigers and a monster performance from Michael Nwoko helped the Tigers get the win.
The Tigers got off to a slow start to the game. The Tigers trailed all the way until there were three minutes left in the first half. Alcorn State’s Davian Williams was shooting the lights out, he scored 21 points and was six for ten from the arc.
The Tigers won the paint battle scoring 58 points in the paint compared to the Braves 28 points in the paint. The Tigers also blew out the Braves in the free throw department with 31 points to only five.
LSU’s Marquel Sutton also records his third straight double-double finishing the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Once the game was out of reach, Coach McMahon put the subs in with three minutes left and he was pleased to see his guys give up only one basket to end the game.
If the Tigers want to come out on top over the Omaha Mavericks, they will need to come out the games swinging. If they wait until the second half like on Tuesday night, it might be too late.
