Cade Arrambide carved his name into the expansive LSU baseball record books by becoming the first Tiger to hit four home runs in a single game on Sunday.
His first three were solo home runs, and each one was needed to help LSU get into extra innings in Game 3 against Tennessee. His last was a grand slam that iced the game and the series.
Coming into this game, Arrambide had hit four home runs on the season. It only took six at-bats to reach that number Sunday. In his 2025 freshman year, he also hit four home runs.
“All the way around, I’ve improved,” Arrambide said before the season. “I’ve put in a lot of hard work during the summer and during this fall … working with coach Johnson and [coach Wanaka] in the cages.”
His first of Sunday’s game came when the Tigers were down 5-0 after a putrid third inning, which saw LSU allow five unearned runs. His next came in the middle of a back-to-back-to-back bombardment in the seventh inning as LSU started to mount a comeback.
If it weren’t for his third home run, which came in the 10th inning, he wouldn’t have even had the chance to hit his final one. That solo home run was matched by a Levi Clark sacrifice fly to send the game to the 12th.
With LSU up by one, his grand slam closed the door and gave LSU its most important series win so far.
He has been fighting for playing time as a freshman, Omar Serna Jr. has become a mainstay in the lineup, but now the Tigers have two catchers that will be nearly impossible not to have on the field each day in some capacity.
