Sophomore point guard Jada Richard announced she has decided to enter the transfer portal on Thursday afternoon.
She is now the fourth Tiger to enter the portal behind Kailyn Gilbert, Divine Bourrage and Bella Hines.
The news is contrary to what head coach Kim Mulkey stated in an interview with WAFB, which is that she had meetings with all of her players and that Bourrage would be the only one transferring.
The Opelousas native has spent two seasons with the Tigers and has taken a big jump in production, averaging 9.5 points, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 40% from the 3-point line.
Early in the season against the Oklahoma Sooners, Richard stepped up against the No. 13 team in the country, finishing the game with a career-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
After only starting one game as a freshman, she has started in 34 of LSU’s 35 games this season. She provided stability and played a pivotal role at the point guard position after the Tigers’ production was lacking the season prior.
Her ability to control the pace and be another reliable scoring option next to Flau’jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley helped the Tigers make a return to the Sweet 16.
