Isaac is moving toward the west-northwest near 18 mph with maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles from the system during the afternoon. While some strengthening is expected during the next couple of days, the likelihood of Isaac becoming a hurricane before it reaches the lower Florida Keys today is decreasing. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Florida Keys, the west coast of Florida from Bonita Beach southward to Ocean Reef, and Florida Bay. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for areas east of Morgan City, Louisiana to Indian Pass, Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the northwestern Bahamas, the Florida east coast, Lake Okeechobee, the Florida west coast, and the Florida Panhandle. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Florida east coast north of Sebastian Inlet to Flagler Beach. In addition to strong to damaging wind gusts, heavy rain with total rain accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and locally higher amounts of up to 12 inches are possible across the Florida Keys and the southern Peninsula of Florida. Total rain accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible in portions of the central and southern Bahamas.
