The athletes who competed in the NCAA Indoor Championship Meet will compete for the first time of the outdoor season as LSU hosts the LSU Relays on Friday and Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
“We always view the LSU Relays as the true outdoor opener for both of our teams,” said LSU coach Dennis Shaver in a news release. “It really helps prepare our athletes for what they will see later in the season at such meets at the Texas Relays and Penn Relays.”
For the first time this season, every member of LSU’s team will compete in one meet. LSU will run the 4×200 relay, which Shaver said isn’t an NCAA event, as preparation for next week’s Texas Relays.
“We’re trying to at least check the marks that we’re putting down with the athletes and see if they can execute it and see it in competition before we go to Texas Relays where we’ll be trying to run fast,” Shaver said.
Competition starts at 4 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
