Are you frustrated with your closet? Make every outfit new by adding pops of color! Here are a few tips to help you nail the look.
-Start small! Slowly work color into your wardrobe by investing in neutral basics (a blazer/leather jacket, a great dress that can be worn for day or night, a good handbag) and add splashes of color with shoes and accessories. Madewell, J. Crew, and Banana Republic have gorgeous, good-quality ballet flats in a ton of colors. Belts, cardigans, and bags can add a pop of color as well. Another option is to add some color with makeup. A neutral outfit would look great with a bright red or coral lip.
A colorful bag or cardigan can add interest to an otherwise boring outfit. If you’re unsure about what bright bag to buy, check your closet. If you wear mostly tan or brown, try a bag in a warm color like red, orange, coral, or yellow. If you wear black and gray more often, try a cool color like blue, purple, or green.
Go for versatile brights. Red looks great with a variety of colors. Purple flatters all skin tones because it mixes a warm color (red) with a cool color (blue.) Yellow looks great with many colors, especially tan, plum, gray, blue, teal, and burgundy. Emerald green and cobalt blue are probably this season’s biggest colors and they’re flattering on most skin tones. Be sure to give them a try!
