I still remember the first time I listened to Tigers Jaw. It was 2010, I was a sophomore in high school, and it was the week before summer vacation. Balance and Composure, a band that I’ve been following for years now, released a split EP with Tigers Jaw. I downloaded the EP, psyched to hear song new B&C songs, not even realizing that I’d accidentally downloaded the Tigers Jaw tracks too. I listened, and I was hooked.
Ever since, Tigers Jaw has always held a spot on my playlists and mixtapes. It’s a band that has that high school garage punk band feel, but with enough production quality that it doesn’t sound like it was recorded in your friend’s basement. Tigers Jaw is, truly, the best of both worlds.
So, when I saw a tweet from the Brianna, one of the vocalists for Tigers Jaw, saying that three members were leaving and the band was, essentially, splitting up, I was deeply saddened. Now I’ll never get to see a Tigers Jaw show.
So, in memory of one of the only constants to grace my playlists, I give you a mix of the best of Tigers Jaw. These are the songs that truly encompass what the band had to offer. I hope you enjoy it.
Happy Listening,
Rebecca
