No. 3 LSU Baseball fought tooth and nail for their 5-4 upset against no. 1 Arkansas this Friday in Alex Box Stadium.
The game that was originally set for 6:30 P.M. did not have the first pitch until 9:55 P.M. because of a rain delay.
The tigers were the first to put points on the board in the bottom of the third. First baseman Jared Jones singled, and Center Fielder Chris Stanfield scored.
Arkansas second baseman Cam Kozeal hit a homer in the top of the fourth, tying the game 1-1. Only moments later, Ethan Frey responded with a homer, his ninth of the season.
Arkansas would go on to score two more runs and hold the lead until freshman lead-off hitter Derek Curiel would RBI two. Curiel singled allowing Steven Milam and Jake Brown to score.
The tigers were back in the game, but they were unable to clutch the win in the bottom of the ninth. Not long after in the bottom of the tenth inning, Frey would hit a fly ball to center field giving Jones enough time to win the game.
After a very late night in the Box, the tigers will be back at it against the razorbacks Saturday, May 10 at 5:30 P.M. for game two of the three-game series.
