The Bayou Country Superfest rolled strong into day two of the festival as fans from around the nation gathered to hear country music’s biggest contenders.
The Band Perry took the stage as the sunlight began to fade and served up hits such as “If I Die Young” and “Better Dig Two” to an eager crowd.
The Band Perry also blended country, pop and rock, covering bands like Queen, fun. and The Beatles.
Next up on the stage was AMC’s entertainer of the year, Luke Bryan. He brought the entertainment with an intricate light show and crowd pleasers such as “Crash My Party” and a audience-involved rendition of “Drunk on You.”
Smoke filled the stage as the opening chords to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” pumped through the speakers, Bryan showed his versatility when covering the metal anthem. He concluded his performance by playfully bantering with the crowd and spraying drinks on his adoring fans.
Zac Brown Band closed the festival with fervent energy and instrumental prowess. The band got the crowd pumped-up with the fast-paced bluegrass tune “Whiskey’s Gone.” Later into the show, the members delivered an emotional performance of the ballad “Colder Weather” to a stadium illuminated by cell phone lights.
Another highlight of the show was the cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” and violin player Jimmy De Martini displayed his immense talent during his solo. The band carried on through the night without ever losing vigor. Brown and his bandmates closed out the festival with the hit “Chicken Fried” with a patriotic twist for Memorial Day.
