Though the LSU soccer team faces an arduous road in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, it received some good news when the All-SEC teams were named on Monday.
The Tigers became the first SEC school to have three freshmen named to an all-conference team. Defender Megan Lee, forward Summer Clarke and midfielder Emma Fletcher were selected as second-team performers, while Clarke and Fletcher were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Clarke, who was pegged SEC Player of the Week in October, leads the Tigers with 10 goals, eight of which came during SEC play. Fletcher holds the LSU freshman assists record with 12, and that number puts her first in the SEC and No. 5 in the nation.
After missing most of the non-conference schedule, Lee quickly found her way into the starting lineup for the Tigers. Lee has scored one goal and recorded three assists in 2013, and she capped for the New Zealand Women’s National Team on Oct. 30.
LSU will take on Auburn in the first round of the SEC Tournament at 4 p.m. today in Orange Beach, Ala.
