Day three of Voodoo was slightly slow-moving compared Saturday’s fast-paced quality, but it was still full of great performances.
The most stand-out was definitely Matt & Kim’s energetic set, which absolutely blew my mind. I’ve seen Matt & Kim before, but there was something so much more dynamic about the band’s Voodoo set. Matt & Kim are definitely crowd pleasers—Kim donned a handful of thongs that had been thrown on the stage and Matt pulled some crazy dance moves while simultaneously playing the keyboard. Then there was the overly-encouraged crowd surfing (more than I’ve seen in my entire life) throughout the set. There was not a dull moment to be hand during the Sunday afternoon set.
I thought I was going to lose my mind when The Cure took the stage. I, along with most people in the world, am a sucker for hits like “Just Like Heaven” and “Friday I’m In Love,” so being able to hear the band in a live setting is something that I’m sure I’ll tell my future children about. Robert Smith looked delightfully made up in his signature red lipstick and super thick black guyliner—I felt like I was in emo heaven.
All in all, day three was a great end to a fabulous Voodoo.
