NBC announced today that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey would be returning to host the Golden Globes in 2014 and 2015, granting a huge wish for the majority of the television-viewing community. Let’s be honest, Amy and Tina could host a special about C-SPAN and make it the most entertaining show ever.
Rarely, if ever, have Poehler and Fey given a disappointing performance, so they’re pretty much a guaranteed success. NBC obviously came to that realization after this year’s show, hosted by the ladies, received rave reviews and the highest ratings since 2007.
Here are a few reasons why you won’t get tired of the duo hosting the Golden Globes three years in a row:
1. You’ll never have to worry about a lack of chemistry since they’ve been friends for almost two decades.
2. Thanks to their “SNL” days, they’re good at making fun of celebs and won’t shy away from roasting the actors in the room.
3. They’re not afraid to get hilariously sloppy.
4. No matter how much time has gone by, their opening monologue jokes will stay with us forever.
“Only at the Golden Globes do the beautiful people of film rub shoulders with the rat-faced people of television.”
5. Finally, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey always get stuff done.
While the 2015 Golden Globes show date is still TBA, the 71st annual Golden Globes will air on NBC on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
