LSU Baseball Second Baseman Daniel Dickinson and Shortstop Steven Milam spoke with the media Friday ahead of the Tigers’ Super Regional date with West Virginia starting Saturday.
LSU is coming off of an unexpectedly tough Regional, being taken to seven games by a Little Rock squad playing with house money, but Dickinson says the Tigers have learned from last weekend.
“We did kinda overlook them a little bit,” Dickinson said. “We’re lucky to come out of it and still have our season.”
The Tigers won’t just be battling the Mountaineers however, they’ll also have to battle the heat coming to Baton Rouge this weekend.
“Lots of water, Coach [Johnson] does a good job of kinda integrating water stations,” Dickinson said. “A lot of rest, a lot of hydration.”
LSU will look to combat the heat and play solid defense against a Mountaineer squad looking to play small-ball, something the Tigers have done well all season.
“It’s a lot of chemistry, put in a lot of work in the fall together,” Steven Milam said of the infield. “Ground balls in the spring, all of us taking ground balls together, having the chemistry and the trust in each other to make the play.”
