Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a state of emergency Thursday in anticipation of Tropical Storm Karen’s potential landfall.
The state of emergency will last until Nov. 1, unless it is cancelled sooner.
Jindal said the declaration is warranted because the National Weather Service issued a hurricane watch stretching from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle.
If the storm strikes the state, the University’s resources could be tapped to aid residents.
