New University Chancelor and System President F. King Alexander is already looking to make the University a larger part of the education reform talks in Washington by having an LSU day at the capitol in January.
Alexander hopes to go there in an attempt to seek federal funds. He said one of the main objectives is to approach the politicians with a complete and cohesive plan.
“For the first time we’re going to pull all our efforts together to collaborate for a common agenda at the federal level.”
Alexander said he has been working in DC for many years and President Obama’s recent education reform announcements were a step in the right direction.
“A lot of the changes that are going on in Washington we ought to be supportive of because LSU will come out much better at the end of the day.”
Alexander has already begun talks with the University lobbyists in Washington to prepare for the LSU Day.
