Sophomore running back Jeremy Hill was available to the media during Sunday’s football media day for the first time since pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge for his role in an April bar fight.
Hill was suspended indefinitely after the incident, but LSU coach Les Miles reinstated Hill to the team Monday and he practiced all week.
“It was good to be back,” Hill said. “I’m just ready to start moving forward. Being with the guys again and being able to do the things I’m accustomed to doing for the past year, it’s great to be back and moving forward.”
Hill said he’s avoided watching and reading media coverage about himself. He said he isn’t sure if he’ll be suspended for any games, and will leave that decision to coach Miles.
Miles would not elaborate on any future punishments for Hill. He only said that the decision was being made in-house and not effected by outside influences.
“It’s team in nature and it doesn’t reflect outside opinion,” Miles said. “So what we’re going to do is talk about our culture, and punishment will be dealt in an appropriate fashion.”
Miles also addressed the state of the Tigers’ offensive line after multiple reports said senior Josh Williford suffered a serious injury in practice this week. Miles refused to elaborate on the injury.
Sophomore Vadal Alexander will shift from right tackle to left guard while freshman Jerald Hawkins will take over at the right tackle spot, Miles said.
“[Hawkins] may well be one of those very, very talented offensive linemen that can really play,” Miles said. “So the advantage then, if you take Vadal and you move him into the left guard spot where Williford was, it will really give us some real power at that left side with he and La’el Collins.”
Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said he will call offensive plays from the press box this season. He coached from the sidelines during his time as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
