The new traffic light at the corner of West Parker Boulevard and Burbank Drive will not be operational until other work in the area is complete, according to traffic engineers at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
Lauren Lee, a public information officer for the DOTD, said the rest of the work on Burbank will begin in April and traffic engineers are estimating a summer completion for the entire project.
Lee said in September that re-striping and traffic signal work will happen on weekends with minimal lane closures.
The new light is one of many steps that the DOTD is taking to revamp the roadway around Burbank and Nicholson Drive, extending from Jennifer Jean Drive to West Parker.
- Replace the signal at Jennifer Jean Drive and Burbank
- Remove the signal at East Boyd Drive and Burbank
- Re-stripe the roadway to create a center left turn lane down Burbank between Nicholson Drive and the median just past Jennifer Jean Drive
- The West Parker and Burbank light will become functional after the re-striping.
