Beyoncé Lip Sync Controversy
R&B superstar, Beyoncé Knowles, performance of the National Anthem this Monday during the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, but there was a big secret that the millions of people watching didn’t know. Beyoncé wasn’t actually singing. The singer reportedly decided at the last minute that she would use a previously recorded track. Kristin DuBois, a rep for the Marine Corps Band (the band that recorded the track with Beyoncé and appeared to be playing with her during the performance), had this to say, ““All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day…We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given.”
Big Week for Director, J.J Abrams
It’s definitely a great week to be J.J Abrams! The A-List director has gotten not just one, but two, buzz-worthy films in development.
Abrams has been tapped to direct the next episode of the classic Star Wars series. Abrams is not new to the sci-fi world having produced “Star Trek” (2009) and executive produced the long running TV series, “Lost”.
The in-demand director is also working with Paramount Pictures on a film adaptation of the book, “Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong” by Juliet Macur.
“Silver Linings Playbook” actor, Bradley Cooper, has already hinted that he would be interested in playing the troubled athlete. In an interview with BBC News on Tuesday Cooper said, “…that would be a great character, I’d love to play that character. I would love to do something; I think he’s pretty fascinating.”
Lady Gaga Confirms Album With Tony Bennett
In what may seem like a surprise to most people, pop star, Lady Gaga, has announced that she will be releasing a full album with legendary singer, Tony Bennett. But, then again, should we be surprised by anything Lady Gaga does at this point?
Rumors of a possible jazz album from the pair have been circulating for months, but Gaga confirmed it this week when she tweeted a picture of herself and Tony Bennett with the caption, “…here’s me and my handsome date [Bennett], I simply cannot wait for our album together, he’s my darling!”
This won’t be the first time that this unlikely pair has teamed up. In 2011, Gaga was featured on Tony Bennett’s “Tony Bennett: Duets II” album on the song, “The Lady Is a Tramp”.
The Lady Gaga/Tony Bennett jazz album is set for a 2013 release.
Shakira Gives Birth
Latin-American singer, Shakira, gave birth to her first child this Tuesday. She welcomed her son, Milan Piqué Mebarak, into the world with boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, who is a professional soccer player for FC Barcelona.
This isn’t the only new addition to Shakira’s life. The singer is also gearing up to replace Christina Aguleira as a judge on season 3 of NBC’s “The Voice” which is set to return on March 25th.
