According to local news outlets, a massive fight closed the Mall of Louisiana around 6 p.m. Saturday night.
WAFB reported a large fight broke out in the food court that involved as many as 200 juveniles, citing the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
Casey Rayborn-Hicks, EBRSO spokesperson, said early reports of shots fired were inaccurate, according to WAFB.
“All the stores were closing their gates and people were running from the center of the mall,” said Jesse Tate, who works at the mall. “We went to the back room and closed the doors and locked them.”
Tate said mall security told him and his coworkers to keep the doors closed and that there were no weapons involved in the altercation. Tate and his coworkers were later informed that it was safe to leave the mall, and Tate noted police cars and ambulances on sight.
WAFB reported all juveniles were taken to BJ’s Brewhouse and Restaurant and Bravo’s to be picked up by their parents.
