Unfortunately, it’s time for the last post of the semester.
But I’ll be back for one more round of Tech with Taylor in January before I graduate.
Let’s get to the new.
1. Amazon prepping drone delivery service
Welcome to the future.
Dec. 1, the online retailer announced its plans to launch a drone-based service that could deliver packages in as little as a half hour, according to a “60 Minutes” interview with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
“It drops the package. You come and get your package and we can do half-hour deliveries,” Bezos told CBS.
The launch — if it happens — won’t be this year or next, but at some point once regulations are put in place, according to the interview.
Personally, I’m torn on the idea. On one hand, the thought of a package delivered to me 30 minutes after I order it is enticing.
But on the other hand, do I sacrifice my privacy and tell an autonomous robot — susceptible to some degree to hacks — my exact home address?
It’s the biggest fear of those vehemently opposed to the NSA and all forms of online monitoring, but the convenience factor could overshadow the potential negative consequences.
Bill Gates supports the idea, for what its worth.

And honestly, that’s pretty much the only major thing that happened this week. With the Xbox One and PS4 out and the holidays quickly approaching, most tech companies aren’t announcing anything new and trying to maximize sales of their current products. Thus is the cycle.
That being said, thanks for reading along this semester! I’ll be back in January with Tech with Taylor.
Until then, good luck on finals and have a great winter break!
