Despite what I expected for the turn out, there were a lot of people filling up the Spanish Moon on Sunday, March 30th. I thought it strange when I first heard Deltron 3030 was going to be performing on a Sunday night, but I decided that I had to check it out anyway. Kid Koala, a member of Deltron 3030, opened up the show with some groovy hip-hop beats. He pumped the crowd up, and laid down some good music. He brought this kid up on stage to make fun of for being loud, but the kid was entirely too inebriated to understand what was going on, and ended up being kicked out for continually trying to get back on stage. It was hilarious. Kid Koala finished off his set with what he called his mom’s favorite song, which sounded like it had sampled a 1950s doo-wop track; I enjoyed the hell out of it.
The crowd was hyped by the time Deltron 3030 came out. They opened with Mastermind, Del spitting rapidly with his much loved flow as Dan the Automater beat on some beat making pad and Kid Koala laid down and scratched on some funky beats. It was a pretty quick show, with them getting off stage after 6 or 7 songs, then returning to perform to more for the encore. Overall it was a pretty great show, and I’d recommend anyone to see them if they can. I enjoyed my first time seeing Deltron 3030 and hope to for a second time as soon as possible.
