LSU junior infielder Conner Hale added an accolade to his Tiger résumé on Monday when he was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week following his performance against Ole Miss over the weekend.
Hale went 3-for-5 on Thursday night against the Rebels, finishing with a double and three runs scored.
He concluded his series with a 2-for-3 performance on Saturday, including his first home run of the season in a 2-0 victory in Oxford, Miss.
The New Port Richey, Fla., native batted .538 in 12 at-bats last week with a double, a home run, two RBIs and eight runs scored. Hale posted .643 on-base percentage.
Hale raised his season batting average to .299, and he has one home run and 14 RBIs in 38 games played. He has manned both second base and first base for the Tigers in 2014, and he played both positions in two contests against Ole Miss on Thursday and Saturday.
