LSU freshman forward Jorian Baucom was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year and a Second-Team All-SEC selection by College Sports Madness.
The announcement came just days after SEC coaches recognized Baucom as a member of the SEC All-Freshman team.
Baucom came to Baton Rouge ranked as the No. 13 player overall and the No. 3 Forward in the 2014 recruiting class by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
As the highest ranked recruit in the Tigers’ No. 7 ranked recruiting class, Baucom came in with high expectations on her shoulders and she responded with a team-leading eight goals.
In her first start in LSU’s season opener against Troy, Baucom headed in her first goal off a cross into the box only 48 seconds into the match.
Baucom ended the season tied for seventh in the SEC in points with 20 and sixth in the SEC with eight goals. In conference play, Baucom tallied four goals, two assists and 10 points.
Baucom was a force to be reckoned with opposite of the Tigers’ sophomore forward Summer Clarke, who was a member of the 2013 Second-Team All-SEC selected by the league’s coaches.
Baucom and Clarke combined for 15 of the Tigers’ 26 goals this season.
