UPDATE 10/16/14 2:10 P.M.– LSU confirmed a home-and-home football series with Texas on Thursday, set to take place in 2019 and 2020.
In a news release, the school announced the Tigers would travel to Austin to take on the Longhorns on Sept. 7, 2019 and Texas would play LSU in Tiger Stadium on Sept. 12, 2020.
It was also announced that the Tigers will open the 2018 season in the Cowboys Classic against Miami (FL) in AT&T Stadium.

A source confirmed to The Daily Reveille that LSU is close to finalizing a deal for a home and home football series in 2019 and 2020.
LSU (5-2, 1-2) is all-time 7-9-1 against Texas (2-4, 1-2) with its last win coming in 1963, when the Tigers beat the Longhorns 13-0 in the Cotton Bowl.
The last game between the two teams came in 2003, when the Tigers fell to Texas 35-20 in the Cotton Bowl.
LSU athletic director Joe Alleva was not immediately available for comment.
