“I bring a lot of things to the table…with accuracy, being smart in the classroom, leading guys, I think I have all the attributes to be a great player here.”
“I don’t look at him and say I’m different by doing this and by doing that.”
Two quarterbacks, each with a different demeanor, are battling for a starting spot leading to the season opener against Wisconsin.
Anthony Jennings, the returning sophomore, doesn’t hesitate to tell you what he brings to the table for this LSU football team. Brandon Harris, the true freshman, decides to let others make their own opinions.
Yet when asked about his goals at LSU, Jennings makes it known that he came here to play.
“I don’t think any guy comes here with the idea ‘Oh, I’m so glad just to be at LSU,’ you know, I want to put on that jersey and go out in front of 102,000 plus and win a national championship. That’s my goal,” Harris said.
This is where the two quarterbacks are similar. Following the spring game, Jennings made it clear he wasn’t going to concede the starting spot.
“I didn’t come here to sit on the bench,” Jennings said convincingly.
No one knows who will be the starting quarterback yet – and it may be up until kickoff in Houston against the Badgers before we do. In typical Les Miles fashion, he told the room full of reporters what we could expect, however.
“I promise you we will play a quarterback in every set.”
For now, that’s all we know regarding the most important position on the field.
